How does a group like ISIS fund themselves? Are people from other countries supporting them? ISIS possibly could be receiving donations from other countries, but their main stream of revenue is created by robbery and oil. When they conquer a town, they empty out the bank's vaults. They also have taken over oil fields and because Iraq is so rich with oil, many countries depend on the oil fields. The countries are forced to pay ISIS, which makes over 1 million dollars a day. ISIS has also become an operational government as people who live on ISIS's "property" are forced to pay tax.
ISIS has proven they can conquer land, but how can they take over the Middle East when they are only a terrorist group? It’s not like they have millions and millions of trained soldiers. Unfortunately, it seems as if ISIS is steadily becoming more and more popular across the world. It has been estimated that 12 Americans have made the journey to Iraq/Syria to join forces with ISIS. It has also been estimated that 500 or more Europeans have joined ISIS. ISIS has also created accounts on Facebook and Twitter and some accounts have up to 20,000 followers, others have upward of 30,000.
The question is: How do we stop ISIS? Barack Obama has made his opinion on ISIS quite clear. Obama does not want to go into another war in Iraq and has made it clear he will not deploy ground troops. He has teamed up with nine other countries (Britain, France, Australia, Canada, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Poland, and Denmark) to discuss a course of action. Taking down ISIS is possibility, but it will take time.
