Hold on…where does protein come from? How much should l have? There are lots of question that resolve around protein. Perhaps the largest one is: “Is this too much?” When consuming protein, which we must do, we should be getting about 10% to 55% of it from our calorie intake. It is important to monitor how much protein we consume, due to the fact that when protein is eaten in excess, it is stored as fat. “Is this too much” is also a commonly used question, but the most important question that portrays to our health is whether a “random” source of protein is healthy or unhealthy. When thinking about protein, we must remember that there are many different types and we should always strive to consume “complete proteins.” Complete proteins are the “healthiest” choice and contain all off the essential amino acids. Compete proteins come from animal sources and soy (meat, milk, eggs, fish, soy, etc). In conclusion, protein is a pertinent part of our diets and should always be consumed in healthy doses.
