Car pools are a great way to start the day. Every morning, my brother, who attends Concord Academy, drives to school with four other CA kids. It depends on the week, but typically, the moms and dads divide the driving time equally, and my mom (or dad) is responsible for driving the kids on Monday and Thursday mornings. This morning, I woke up, took a shower, got dressed, packed my bag, and ate breakfast. After finishing my bagel and cream cheese, with a side of strawberries, and chugging a glass of water, I tore out the door, were my mom and brother sat waiting in the car. When I got into the car, my mom said, “What is the best way to Maddie’s house with so much snow on the streets?” My brother suggested a route, but unfortunately, the traffic was horrible and we did not arrive at Maddie’s (Maddie’s house acts as a drop off point for all of the kids) until 7:30. When we arrived, the four kids piled into the car, leaving me in the backseat with my good friend Jordi Hurly. After a couple of early morning yawns and sighs, we all began to talk about our favorite movies. Over the course of our conversation, we all shared many laughs and disputes, before finally reaching the next topic of the best song in the world. After five minutes of arguing, we decided that we would all have to listen to the songs before making our decisions. Then, my brother began playing all of our favorite songs through the car bluetooth, and before long, we were all having a mini dance party to Candy Shop by Fifty Cent. Unfortunately, we eventually arrived at CA and we were forced to turn off the music and I was forced to say goodbye to everyone. To me, starting off the morning by being with other people is great, and I think a carpool is an awesome opportunity for anybody! Some of you might be saying, “I like to sleep or relax on my morning commute, I am always so tired.” To be honest, this was my initial response to the carpool idea, but I can tell you from having the commute all to myself half of the week to having the carpool on the other half that the carpool is much better! From the great music, to the insignificant conversations, having a car pool is a great way to start the day, and if I you don’t believe me, try it out!
